GeneDMRs: an R package for Gene-based Differentially Methylated Regions analysis

Abstract

Epigenetic changes in the genome affects phenotype variation, disease risks, drug targets among others and therefore comprehensive understanding and quantification of these changes are important in life sciences and human health research. DNA methylation is one of the most important epigenetic changes that occur in gene or promoter or gene body or CpG island regions restricting/promoting the gene transcription. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the methylation levels within the gene, gene body, CpG island regions and their interactive regions and then identify the gene-based differentially methylated regions (GeneDMRs).
