First prototype:
I wanted to create something colorful with movement. I thought about what sunrises and sunsets do to me and therefore I wanted to create that.
Second prototype:
At this point I made the box out of cardboard to get a sense of the creation and size. Besides that, I figured that due to the slow movement, I needed a button to move the sun faster. It was also at this prototype that it was decided, that the sun would not move all the way around. Instead it would move almost all around and then turn all the way back in a faster speed, and then turn slowly around again. The reason for this is it would be difficult to make it spin all the way around due to the wires. I got all the components cleared at this state.
Third Prototype:
This ended up being the last prototype in this proces. Actually it ended up being a really close look alike to my first intention of this creative and innovative project, but at the same time I was very open minded about the technology part of it. That is probably due to my minimal knowledge about it. I ended up having more to it than I imagine in the beginning.
Besides that was my plan to make the whole box out of wood and then let the laser cutter cut the stars to make sure they would light up when the sun would be in the box. But Sara my Supervisor gave me the idea of making the font out of plexiglass glass and then let the light shine through the glass.
