ChatGPT workshop

A hands-on workshop experience for all students with an interest in app development, AI and the immense potentials of chatbots.

The purpose of this workshop is to give the students an introduction to the ChatGPT interface and utilise it to produce functional prototypes of digital technologies or applications. On this particular workshop, mobile applications (Android and iOS) are in focus, and during the development process, the students will gain experience in working with a variety of tools and learn about relevant design methods and theories within app development. The students will get a hands-on experience when working with ChatGPT, p5.js, and React Native.

We encourage any 2nd semester student on HumTek, HumBach, or any other bachelor's programme, with an interest in AI and app development who seeks to acquire useful industry competences with working with prompting and AI to apply for this workshop.

During this workshop, you will learn:

Prompt Engineering

• Using ChatGPT or similar AI systems to generate code for a functional prototype of an app
• Implementing code and writing prompts in development of digital prototypes
• App-design techniques

App development and design methodology

• Interaction design, app-design, frontend/backend development, requirement specifications, prototyping, storyboards and wireframing.

The project started as a bachelor's project on HumTek in 2023. The three students behind the project, William, Morten, and Daniel, have all studied Informatics and Computer Science on the HumTek bachelor's programme, and have all generally experienced a lack of opportunity for creating digital products or apps. We sought to counter this by establishing arguments that ChatGPT can be a useful tool in the development of functional digital prototypes - not only for Computer Science students, but for everyone interested in AI and app development, by using to natural language to generate implementable code.
